Compliance with the second phase of the scheme must be completed and reported to the Environment Agency by 5 December 2019.
All large enterprises in the UK will be affected. This is defined as having 250 employees or more, or having both a turnover greater than 50 million euros and an annual balance sheet greater than 43 million euros, or being a part of a larger organisation that falls into either of these categories.
If a qualifying organisation doesn’t meet the deadline, they can expect to receive a basic fine of £50,000, plus an additional fine of £800 per day, up to a maximum of 80 days.
